Information for Carrier Females of X-linked CGD (XL-CGD)
This section of our website is dedicated to females who are carriers of X-linked Chronic Granulomatous Disorder (XL-CGD).
Typically, XL-CGD carrier status is identified when a male relative – such as a father, son, brother, cousin, or nephew – is diagnosed with CGD.
Note for Carriers of Autosomal Recessive CGD (AR-CGD)
Carriers of AR-CGD can be either male or female. The genetic mutation responsible for AR-CGD is located on one or more of the autosomal chromosomes (chromosomes 1–22).
Currently, there is no evidence to suggest that being a carrier of AR-CGD leads to any health problems, regardless of sex.
