Breakthrough for the CGD Community: Remi’s Story
We are delighted to share some incredible news for the CGD community.
Nineteen-year-old Remi has become the first person in the world with p47 CGD to receive pioneering gene therapy at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). This groundbreaking treatment has completely transformed his life.
Since undergoing the therapy, Remi is now medication-free, has passed his driving test, completed his A-levels, and is preparing to begin his university journey. His remarkable progress offers hope for many others affected by CGD and highlights the life-changing potential of gene therapy.
This milestone moment for the CGD community has also been recognised more widely: Remi’s story is featured on the GOSH website and was published in the Sunday Times. This coverage is a huge step forward in raising awareness of CGD and the power of cutting-edge treatments.
At CGD Society, we are thrilled to see such advances being made and to witness the positive impact they can have on the lives of people with CGD.
